Tequila Shots – Literally!!!

tequila shot hijos de villa

A friend gave me this as a gift. He thought if the tequila isn’t great, at least the novelty of the M1911 pistol will make up for it. It sat there on my shelf for a while as I didn’t want to open it because it was such an awesome presentation of literally taking tequila shots!

It’s made from Licores Veracruz, under the Hijos De Villa label. It was created to commemorate the 55th anniversary of Licores Veracruz. The bottles are limited and each hand numbered.

The anniversary bottles also come in a 750 ml bullet, which is really just a bottle with a plastic cone on top. The one that can really be a novelty centerpiece topic starter is the rifle. It comes with a wooden stand and is priced at about $100.

The tequila itself when drinking isn’t anything to go out of your way for. It’s similar to another better known Mexican tequila called Cazadores Reposado. So if you had Cazadores, you’ll know the similar flavor. It goes down a little harsh in my opinion, along with the sweet sugary hint. You might want to bite the lime after if you’re not much of a tequila drinker. It didn’t bother me much though.

The pistol bottle is only a 200 ml bottle, so you’re not going to take too many shots. After you empty the bottle just fill it up with some other tequila and when your friends come over, just pour a “shot” for them. They’ll be too busy gawking at the bottles to pay much attention to what they are drinking.

The M1911 pistol bottles can be found at some BevMo stores, Costco, specialized alcohol stores and I’ve been told it’s found in some ghetto neighborhood liquor stores. It’s priced anywhere from $25-$35.
