Are Oysters Aphrodisiacs?

aphrodisiac oysters it's for dad blog

Oh yeah baby, succulent sweet and slimy raw oysters. Some people use a technique to guide it with their tongues and get under the meat and let it slide into their mouths. Others just flip it into their mouths and don't mind if some of the juices gets all over their face. While the more common way is for people to put their lips to the edge and just slurp it up.

How ever you do it, the inevitable question always comes up: Are they aphrodisiacs? I'm sorry to take you out of the mood, but honestly they don't. It's actually you that is making yourself horny. How is that? It's because you are now actively thinking about sex instead of passively thinking about. The more you think about it, the more aroused you get.

The only mineral that might even help you is the zinc that is found in the raw oysters. You would have to eat a lot of them, but the risk and benefits don't really equal out.

Yes, I purposely put the picture in that direction to suggest it. It is shaped like a vagina to a certain extent, and when you bring it up to your face, your mind is having racey thoughts. So like I said, you are your own aphrodisiac, and I'm not sure how pleasant it is for your wife to be smelling all that seafood breath coming out of your mouth as you are panting. It's probably a mood killer for her.

To back it up from Discovery Health, How Stuff Works:

Are Oysters Really an Aphrodisiac?

In the case of oysters, probably the classic among the alleged aphrodisiacs, chemical analysis shows that it consists of water, protein and carbohydrates, plus small amounts of fat, sugar and minerals. None of these components is in any way known to affect sex drive or performance. The psychological impact of believing that oysters, raw bull's testicles ("prairie oysters", as they are called), clams, celery, or tomatoes are aphrodisiacs is sometimes strong enough to produce, at least temporarily, greater sexual desire or performance. The experience of enhanced arousal or performance is then falsely attributed to the wonder food, and this discovery is passed on to the next person wishing to experience new heights of sexual experience.

Eating certain foods to increase sexual power, while ineffective, is generally harmless.
