Fake iPad - Because Apple Made Being A Poseur Cool

fake apple ipad ipaddummy

Yeah, because you want to look cool and act like money isn't a problem to your hipster friends. Sure, put some cold drinks on that fake iPad and walk around like you don't care. Oh the shock of the MacHeads as they cringe in horror!

Really, I don't know why you would want one. Even the makers don't know why you would want one either. But, like anything popular, someone out there wants a fake one just to have.

Here's a perfect scenario to frame someone into buying you a new one. Walk around with it, and then let someone you know try to play with it. As they grab it, make them drop it and then blame them for breaking it. In their guilt, they'll buy you a new one. Just don't let them touch it afterwards. If you stoop that low, then yes, you deserve a dummy iPad. It's just $49 and includes shipping.

Here's a little info from their FAQ:

Do you sell working iPads?
For people browsing around this site with the idea they can get an iPad for $49, here the definition of ‘dummy’: ‘a model or replica of a human being’. And that’s exactly what we sell. We sell non-working – without electronica – ‘iPad-looking’ replica’s of iPads, not real iPads. The dummies, however, have real weight, and look really close to a real iPad, but the parts of the dummy model cannot be used to replace original iPad parts. We don’t sell any working and/or original Apple stuff, please remember this. We sell not-working, non-original dummies aka display models.

Can the screen be used to replace a real iPad screen?
No, the screen of the dummy is made of plastic. It is not not realistic to use it as a replacement for your real iPad.

Do the buttons respond like normal buttons?
No! They won’t respond when you press them.

Is the back made of aluminum?
No! It’s all plastic.

Cast Iron Pans

Now, you might be wondering why I'm recommending a cast iron pan for Dad. Isn't this something you probably want to get for Mom? Well, when Dad wants to make a nice pan fried steak, there's only way to make a really nice steak indoors and that's with a cast iron pan. The heat generated and heat diffusion makes this an ideal cooking pan to use. Get a really good pan like one from Lodge and it could last for a really long time. Might last as long as Dad himself! Just don't say that in front of him!!!

I like a steak with a nice seared and crispy outside with medium rare pink color in the center. Using a cast iron pan or skillet, I can consistently make this perfect steak every time. My friend showed me a pan his mother passed on to him. It was a pan his father bought for him mom back in the 1950's and to this day, that pan still looks excellent. He swears by the wonderful results he gets when using this pan. The pan is well "seasoned", which I'll explain in a little bit.

A pan is well seasoned when it has a non-stick coating created by polymerized fats and oils. So the more you use the pan, the better it gets. Some people don't wash their pans, but simply wipe it immediately after with just a paper towel. Others will wash it with a soapy sponge but never scrub it with a scouring pad, as doing so will remove the coating. What ever you feel most comfortable with is what you should do to keep this pan clean and seasoned. If there's a layer of grease and fat, yeah, definitely I would wipe it clean as the fats will get rancid and attract who knows what to your pan. Gross!

These cast iron pans can be found almost in all major department stores. There's pans that are metal with a non-stick coating to look like a traditional iron pan, so just be aware of these as you won't get the heat generated from these pans, thus you won't get the results you were looking for. The price for these iron pans average $15-$25 for a 12 inch pan.

When Dad opens his present and sees this pan and gives you a befuddled look, just remind him of the benefits of these pans. Tell him when he wants the perfect pan steak, this is the best choice and he should give it a try. He'll get perfect pan cooked steaks every time.

Fart in Bed?

fart blanket better marriage blanket

Hehehe….we all fart. That’s a fact. We usually fart more as we age since our digestive system isn’t as efficient as it was when we were younger. Guys usually fart more since we eat more. All that beer, fried foods, meat and other bar foods creates the wonderful recipe of a pungent gas cloud. And if it’s really bad, even you can’t stand it! Ugggh. I….*ahem* am speaking from first hand experience of course.

Okay, so maybe you’re a light sleeper that is cognitive enough to lift the covers, point your rear in the opposite direction away from your wife and just rip one. Or maybe you just fart in your sleep all night? If your wife is still with you and putting up with all the flatulence after all these years, she’s definitely a great women and keeper. Let’s do something for that wonderful woman of yours.

Here’s the Better Marriage Blanket. Yes, that’s the official name of the blanket. The blanket is lined with activated carbon and simply absorbs the odor molecules. The makers claim that it can even work on top of blankets!

From their website:

  • A real solution to a very real problem
  • Contains the same type of fabric used by the military to protect against chemical weapons
  • Even works on top of bed sheets
  • Makes a great wedding or anniversary gift too

  • The molecules that cause the odor are absorbed and neutralized in millions of microscopic pores in the activated carbon so it has an almost unlimited capacity for eliminating odor

  • Frequent washing is not needed. Only wash when the outer fabric needs cleaning but “Refresh” The Blanket in the dryer or in the sun occasionally

  • The blanket will not smell bad after use

  • Odor absorption will last for the life of the Blanket

Red Wine Aerator From Vinturi

vinturi wine aerator

I'm an occasional wine drinker. I prefer reds over white, but really, to each his own to what you prefer and enjoy. Now, I'm not that sophisticated to really tell the difference between a great tasting wine that I paid $1.99 for, aka Two Buck Chuck, and the $30 bottle of wine. However, I can tell the difference when I first pour the wine in my glass and take an immediate sip versus a sip I take a half hour later. Wine simply taste better when you give it time to breathe, which opens up the aromas and flavors.

Do you really want to wait a while before you can enjoy your wine?

Well, you don't have to. I ran across the wine aerator from Vinturi. It's elegant, affordable, and aerates as fast as you pour. Now I can take the $5 everyday wine and it's just as good as the $30 wine I bought for occasions.

Vinturi also makes an aerator for white wines.

You can buy direct from their website, or places like BevMo, Nordstrom, Crate&Barrel, Brookstone and Bed Bath & Beyond.

Hmmm...I wonder if I can make wine in a box enjoyable to drink if I use this?

When I first saw the picture, I thought he was smelling something on the table. Turns out he’s doing something better. Sleeping! Hey, take a nap where ever you want. Just turn the backside of the tie, open the valve and blow it up. Put your face on it and: ZZzzZzZzzz.

Rather than have me try to explain it, just see the directions below.

I honestly can’t really see myself going out to get this. BUT, it makes a pretty unique gift, if not a gag gift for someone. When I think about it, gag gifts actually get a better response from everyone when it’s unboxed. Just like the toy humping dog my former boss got at work. Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whiskey

I was never much of a whiskey drinker, and honestly never really enjoyed it. I’d always gulp it and then breath out the burning fumes. Uggh!!! My friend Juan would always remark how much he enjoyed Scotch and would always stand there with the same drink for most of the night just sipping away. My image of a Scotch drinker was always that old guy with the portly belly, rosey cheeks and bulbous whiskey nose. Juan is far from my imagined stereotype, as he’s in his early 20’s and a physical and health fanatic.

Coming home from work one day, I ran into a Trader Joes market just to grab a bottle of tequila, and just spontaneously grabbed the Glenfiddich 12 year old Scotch. Took it home, poured it in glass and took a slow sip and swirled it around my tongue. Oh the complex flavors and noted 3 steps of taste! I detected sweet butterscotch and hints of fruit. What a blissful state of surprise. Then I tried it with slightly warmer than room temperature water as I was told it allows you to better experience the flavors. It was very enjoyable, but I prefer it without the water.

Amongst Scotch drinkers, it’s about a 50/50 split who drink it neat and for those that add water. Add natural spring water if you can, adding tap water will ruin the flavors. Drinking it from any glass is perfectly fine, but if you can use a tulip shaped glass, it definitely helps with the swirling and aroma release.

Glenfiddich has Scotch that range from affordable 12 years old to 50 years old that is over $15,000.00 dollars! The 12 y.o. is around $20, 15 y.o. in the $40 range and the 18 y.o. in the $60 range. These are all generally available at your local stores.
